Virginia Spring Wedding at The Old Silk Mill

We were so excited to kick off the 2019 Wedding Season with Rebekah and Will’s gorgeous Spring Wedding at the Inn At The Old Silk Mill in downtown Fredericksburg. The mood in there as well as their staff were so incredible that it quickly became one of my favorite wedding venues to date.  Please take me back!

We were so excited to kick off the 2019 Wedding Season with Rebekah and Will’s gorgeous Spring Wedding at the Inn At The Old Silk Mill in downtown Fredericksburg. The mood in there as well as their staff was so incredible that it quickly became one of my favorite wedding venues to date.  Please take me back!

This wedding was particularly special because there were also two other GVP couples in attendance making this a sort of fun reunion for me. I got to catch up with the Burlingames (Shouts out to Emily and Alex!) from another spring wedding in 2016 (Rebekah was actually a bridesmaid at their wedding). Then I ran into Rhea and Ben, whom I’ve booked for a September wedding this year at the Hermitage Museum in Norfolk (Will happens to be Ben’s former college roommate and will be a groomsmen in their wedding)!

Rebekah was an absolute joy to work with during the entire planning process. She was very thorough and clear with her vision for the wedding. In addition to having bridesmaids (which are all her lovely sisters), she also incorporated a house party (HP) - A Southern tradition that’s essentially an extension of the bridal party making their wedding even more unique. The only difference is that the HP is not actually a part of the ceremony but everything else in between from getting ready to the big send off. Talk about squad goals - Dressed in maroon, the HP wore a different colored dress than the bridesmaids! One of my favorite moments during the getting ready was when we captured the first look of Rebekah in her wedding dress to her bridesmaids and HP.  Their reactions were priceless!

Rebekah and Will wanted to keep things traditional and decided to do a “first touch” before the ceremony. The ambience at the Silk Mill facilitated this moment perfectly.  Standing with their backs against each other, they two held hands as they exchanged letters with each other, followed by a prayer. It was such a beautiful and intimate moment, reminding me that every year, without fail, I’m blessed to play a part in the weddings of the most amazing couples.

Looking forward to seeing Rebekah and Will again in September at Rhea and Ben’s wedding!!

Virginia December Wedding

December weddings are such a treat. The holiday spirit is in the air. The colors are warm and cozy and sometimes, you may just run into a big lit up Christmas Tree.

A year ago today, we ventured out to Alexandria, Virginia to capture this winter wedding.

December weddings are such a treat. The holiday spirit is in the air. The colors are warm and cozy and sometimes, you may just run into a big lit up Christmas Tree.

Julie was referred to me by another “GV” couple that also had their wedding in December. Her and Zach were together for 6 years until Zach popped the question in June of 2017. They’re both incredible humans to say the least and were such a joy to work with. We had less than an hour to shoot their portraits outside the 29 degree weather. By the time we had finished shooting, Julie said that she couldn’t feel her toes! They (along with their wedding party) braved the cold for 40 whole minutes for the sake of getting amazing photos which makes the Photographer in me very happy.

Together with their friends and families, here’s a closer look at their Wedding Day.

Reception Venue - Il Porto Ristorante

Florals - The Flower Gallery (Manassas VA)

Cake - Victoria’s Cakery (Fairfax, VA)

Virginia Vineyard Wedding

This beautiful October Wedding in Crozet, Virginia had all the fall feels. Surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains, King Family Vineyards was the perfect dream venue for Ariel and Jon.

This beautiful October Wedding in Crozet, Virginia had all the fall feels. Surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains, King Family Vineyards was the perfect dream venue for Ariel and Jon.

The sky was overcast. By the time the ceremony was over around 6:30pm, the sun had already set. As we walked over to the wine trail for a portrait session, we realized that we were quickly losing daylight. I made a decision to forgo my flash and shoot with the remaining natural light that we had to work with. Ariel and Jon kept things traditional and did not do a First Look so this was the only shot I had in capturing their formal Wedding Portraits. I was so amazed by the end result. The portrait of Ariel holding up her flowers to cover her and Jon’s face has become one of my favorite go-to pose for all my couples.

On October 9, 2015, Ariel and Jon’s said yes to forever. I’ve known Ariel since 2009 and I was practically adopted into her wonderful Italian family. She has a total of 10 siblings and I was the “Asian” big brother that they never had. Five of her sisters were her Bridesmaids. When Ariel had approached me to photograph her and Jon’s Wedding Day, I was so honored and thrilled to capture it.

Here’s a closer look at their Wedding Day.

Woman's Club of Portsmouth | Virginia Wedding | August 26, 2018

On December 31, 2016, they took an evening stroll down Piedmont Park in Atlanta for New Year’s Eve. It was cold and rainy. It was also then when Daniel went down on one knee and asked Jasmine to become his wife. Tears of joy. What a perfect way to ring in the New Year!

Fun fact - I worked for Apple Inc. for a full year in 2014-2015. I needed the extra cash to save for me and Pattee’s (my wife) wedding after we got engaged in 2014. Working at Apple was easily one of my best life experiences to date. Through there, my love for technology and how it can enhance our lifestyle was rekindled. Most importantly, I’ve developed life long relationships while working there and one of those relationships is with Daniel ( I promise we’ll get to him in a bit). They always say, once you become a part of the Apple family, you’ll always be a part of the family. That says a lot about the company’s culture.

A few months after Pattee and I got married in 2015, my schedule became full very quickly. I was working full time in Health Care IT, part-time at Apple, and part-time as a Wedding and Family Photographer. Something had to give and unfortunately, Apple got the short end of the stick. About a year later, Daniel reached out to me via e-mail to inquire about Wedding Photography. Of course I was very excited!

After months of planning, I finally got a chance to sit down and have coffee with Daniel and his lovely fiancé, Jasmine. Their younger brothers played T-Ball growing up and that’s how they met. Daniel currently serves in the Army in Northern VA and Jasmine is an aspiring educator.

A month out of their Wedding, I learned that Jasmine’s grandmother had recently passed away. As you look through these beautiful images from their Wedding Day, you’ll see moments of raw emotion from Jasmine and her mother as they try and hold back tears while reflecting on this inspiring and delightful woman that was very dear to them. These are the moments that I long for as a Photographer of people and love. The moments that truly matter and tell a story.

This is Jasmine and Daniel’s Wedding Day.
